Hays County Ranch

WIMBERLEY, TX

Preserving gracious Hill Country living with a restorative land management focus

This heritage ranch nestles into a scenic bend of Lone Man Creek and features a classic American farmhouse, dancehall and artist's studio. We added subtle hardscape elements and a lush, varied palette of native and adapted plants and trees. Our landscape design integrates the historic buildings with the surrounding wild lands and enhances the site’s livability, beauty and biodiversity.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • A Texas twist on the cottage garden elevates the farmhouse to a focal point, attracts pollinators and provides beautiful blooms for cutting year round

  • In partnership with Heritage Tree Care, fifty-five shade and ornamental trees were planted throughout the property to diversify the woodland canopy and offset the risk of oak wilt disease

  • Oversized native limestone walkways improve traffic flow to the farmhouse and outbuildings

  • A gravel parking lot was transformed into a restored prairie full of native Texas wildflowers and grasses

  • Mature bald cypress trees were planted in phase one of a riparian restoration plan

  • Future ecological restoration phases include extensive prairie restoration and building a riparian buffer zone along the creek
